Global warming
Global warming is effecting freshwater biomes and threatening native species. It is warming the temperature of the water which effects reproduction cycles, disrupting cold-water species, and changing growth rates.
-Dead zones are also caused my global warming, these are areas where there is less air exchange due to the warming of water. This depletion of oxygen makes it incapable for species to survive.
-Disease outbreaks can occur from the sewage flow in combination with polluted runoff water coming to freshwater territory.
Fluoride
Concentrations of fluoride ions are present in freshwater biomes from the production of industries. Traces of these ions have been found in salt water, but have a greater effect of fresh water species. Fluoride is altering species enzyme activity. This is effecting body size, muscles and liver.
